Just like the boating the real thing, RC boating ships operate in similar ways. It is always important to know first the DO’s and DON’T’s of the item you’ve purchased before causing its damage. Here are some tips to guide you to maintain the quality and performance of your RC Boats:

First thing you need to do is know to where you are going to submerge your boat. If you’re using salt water, always wash the hull and all metallic parts with plenty of fresh water using a neutral soap. Protect the inlet in washing and you may use an air compressor. Check removable parts. Take off the radio box lid and check for humidity. Dry the parts and spray oil on metallic parts. Avoid sailing when there are people in the water, examples are sailing on a swimming pool. Avoid sailing near full sized boats, it might squeeze yours. Sailboats have keels that are possibly long so you might want to avoid shallow waters with underwater plants, rocks or fish. Avoid sailing in strong wind conditions and or heavy waves or current, because even though these boats are controlled, the wind might readily sweep them off. Then, before putting your boat in the water, check the tightness of all screws mainly the one that holds the engine, the rudders and propeller. Remember also to make the holes of the radio box as small as possible. Whenever your boat turns upside down from the aggressive driving or strong wave and wind, it is best to consider floatation strategies. There are many strategies listed that are cheap and effective. One example is the use of an empty plastic soda bottle. Also, when accidentally, the boat really tipped over, just get rid of ingested water. Empty the gas tank and fuel lines. Take the spark plug off, and flip over the engine. Then, let the water drain. The last thing is testing the engine. The first try is always out of water. Bear in mind that when out of water, the engine reaches higher rpm’s. So take good care of the accelerator under these instances.
