Your Guide to RC Boats
68
What I will be tackling below are the different characteristics of four featured boats: the Nitro RC boat, the gas powered RC boats, the electric RC boats and the most common-the RC miniature sailboat. To start with, beginners must be at pace of the things they’d want and the location of waters they’d want their boats to run in. It would be confusing to choose models without a definitive goal. Goals must be in-line with purpose, choosing from leisure boats to competitive boats. After then, you’re one step ahead to buy your own model.
Nitro boats are operated with a blend of methanol + lubricating oil. Some models have specific fuel requirement. This means that when you purchase, the items you also need to purchase the fuel designed for it. On the other hand, RC boats that are gas-operated use gasoline and oil mixture. To compare nitro boast from gas-powered ones, nitro boats are faster but running time is shorter; and because its fuel is specific-made, it is more expensive then gas-powered ones. Gas RC boats are slower but have much longer running times. Gas is even cheap compared to fuel. Before buying these models, make sure that you consider the noise, speed, maintenance and space. They could become really noisy and disturbing. Tuning skills for the engine is also a must for its everyday operation.
Electric boats compared to the ones mentioned above, are easy to maintain and are relatively cheap in price. Other advantage is that they are quite when operated. It is electrically charged and then you’re ready to go! The speed it could run can go 15-20 mph, which is considerably fast for beginners.
The most common among the boats mentioned is the RC sailboat. This boat is the most serene way to enjoy radio control boating. However, it requires basic knowledge on how to use the effect of the wind.
Radio controlled boats are now commonly purchased worldwide for leisure and competition purposes. Before purchasing your own, just be sure you’ve checked the appropriate speed and control system; fuel and filter parts; and lastly the duration of these boats.
